3. Main technology

The main technology in ethanol production: Milling, steam, saccharification, fermentation, distillation and effluent treatment. As usual the fuel needs the anhydrous processing.

Saccharification is a process of milling the raw material (grain, sugars and cellulose), then reacting with amylases and glucoamylases, and finally hydrolyzing the amylum into glucose.

Fermentation is mainly used the yeasts to ferment the glucose which comes from the amylum hydrolyzing.

Distillation is a way of separating the components in the mixture according to their volatility difference. To extract the alcohol from the matured fermenting mash via distillation.
