• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip Type Connecting Links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ Type Connecting Link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates securely. For Rivet Type Connecting Links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. To adjust chain sag, refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or reference the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle came with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet Type Connecting Link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into place (see Fig. A).
