INDICATIONS
Rifampicin for injection, indicated as an alternative to the oral formulation of rifampicin when oral therapy is not tolerated. In combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs for the treatment of all types of tuberculosis, including primary, progressive, chronic and drug-resistant cases. Other infections: This product is used in combination with other antibiotics for the treatment of Legionella spp. and severe staphylococcal infections.
Adverse reactions
Digestive system: Heartburn, epigastric discomfort, anorexia, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, gastrointestinal distention, jaundice may occur.
Liver: The drug is hepatotoxic, mostly when used in combination with other TB drugs, manifesting as elevated ALT, hepatomegaly and, in severe cases, jaundice.
